The Donation

Half of the proceeds from the sale of this photograph will be donated by artist and the Keiyo Art Gallery to Australian Marine Conservation Society.

Since 1965, the AMCS has been a voice for Australia’s ocean wildlife. They focus on creating large marine sanctuaries and protecting ocean wildlife, as well as campaigning for sustainable fisheries. Much of their work focuses on building resilience against climate change and improving water quality for sea life, and recent work has been focused on the Great Barrier Reef. Keiyo photographer Dave Sandford lived in Australia for a time and was inspired by the wildlife and waves, and supports the AMCS for the work they do to preserve this beloved place.

About the Artist

Dave is a professional photographer based in London, Ontario, Canada. While he has spent two decades working as a professional sports photographer, he is perhaps best known for his remarkable photographs of the turbulent waves of Lake Erie. Renowned as the stormiest of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie often boasts gusts of over 50/kph and swells of 30 feet - perfect conditions for Dave to pull on a wetsuit and wade in with his camera gear where he captures powerful twists, breathtaking curves, and colors that seem other-worldly.
